When enough is enough

When enough is enough

In a chaotic, high speed world of schedules, commitments demands and stress there is a yearning for a balance.

7 mile run Wednesday night in 1:02 on a bright sunny yet windy Dublin evening.

Who's driving the bus?

When the walls are closing in and you don't have a clear perspective you need assistance to take a step back.

Exercise can help you change the negative from I can't, I have to, I need to to a positive mindset with I can, it's my choice, I don't need to do that.

From a 5k runner to a half marathoner to a marathoner to an ultra marathon runner I am proof taking time out each day to give yourself a life- giving choice while working on a personal balanced plan can change your life both in you personal and Business life.

Write down your goals and follow your dreams.

Working on the razor’s edge.

Working on the razor's edge

Worried about the future not sure what you really want to do, working long hours, looking what others have, feeling you are not as good as others.

If you pay attention to the present you will find yourself more productive and calm at work. You will achieve more with less stress and learn to be less judgemental overall in work and your life.

13.2 mile run tonight in the lashing rain, you know its hard to explain to someone who doesn't run why one of my goals is to suffer a little.

But I don't judge them.

Beat your own drum

Beat your own drum.

I met my ex ulster bank colleague Noel McGowan today for lunch and a catchup. A true gentleman and great for the giggles and craic, true friendships last.

4.8 mile evening run in 41 mins around Leopardstown.

Great to see Noel enjoying retirement and doing what makes his heart sing.

Listen to the beat of your own drum and strike your own notes.

Hard work - the most underrated talent.

Hard work - the most underrated talent.

Running out of August with a 13.4 mile late Saturday night run in 2:15.

Jackie Tyrrell Kilkenny hurling legend quotes his father "hard work will always beat talent, when talent won't work hard".

Hard work is at the heart of all our achievements, funny we may not realise that as we are so busy.

As we move into September it's never too late to set goals and start, start where you are, with what you have.

Go for it

Luckiest man in the world

Luckiest man in the world yet ran as Johnny no mates today.

Had no pals for my 4.6 mile lunchtime run around central park in Leopardstown today due to a mixture of holidays and diary commitments so I was "johnny no mates" as I pushed myself to a time of 39 mins.

I am the luckiest man in the world, celebrating 34 years married to the woman of my dreams today, how good is that.

Follow your dreams.

Life is an Adventure

Life is an adventure

Today is no ordinary day, it is a day like no other because it will never be repeated or replayed like catchup on TV. It will be the end of 24 hours never to be seen again.

10 mile hilly run on a cool Wednesday night in 1:34 with a PB time on the stretch know as heart attack ridge!

Tomorrow take some time out to explore the world like you've never seen it before.

Follow your dreams.

Have you written down your 2019 goals yet?.

Do not imagine that if something is hard for you to achieve, it is therefore impossible for any person, but rather consider anything that is humanly possible and appropriate to lie within your own reach too.

Marcus Aurelius.

A 6.4 mile lunchtime run in 40 mins with my colleague, pal and fellow marathoner Gary Duffy, now that was a very hot lunch run in glorious sunshine and not a puff of wind.

Have you written down your 2019 goals yet?

What a blast at Dublin 10 mile race in Phoenix Park

What a blast at the 2019 kbc frank duffy 10 mile today in the phoenix Park, that was a tough one, very very hot but happy with finish time of 1:32

Met my cousin Laura Armstrong also running amongst the crowd and had a great chat before the start, what were the odds of that. Go Laura.

Started the race with my running pal Ronan ó Byrne aka @reacher110 , and ran the last 2 miles and crossed the finish line with my pal Dave Nolan aka @davenolan. Then met my pal Bryan McMahon after race.

Thanks to @irishrunningirl for recognising me from twitter and giving me a shout out and a hug on the final finish straight.

Cracking.

Roll on on the kbcddublinhalfmarathon in September.
